Coastal Homes: What to Know Before Painting in Lorne

Living near the beach is magic, but it can be tough on your paint job.

If you're based in Lorne or anywhere along the coast, you'll notice your exterior paint cops it – wind, salty air, moisture, and sun all team up to break it down faster than inland areas.

Here’s what I always recommend for coastal homes:

  • Use top-quality exterior paints – cheap stuff just flakes off

  • Wash your walls before painting – especially if there’s salt build-up

  • Seal your timber – decks and trims will rot fast if they’re not protected

  • Stick to lighter colours – they handle the heat better

I’ve worked on a lot of homes around Lorne, and if you want a paint job that lasts, it’s worth doing it right the first time.

If you’ve noticed peeling, chalky paint, or your place just looks tired – give me a buzz and I’ll take a look.
